SBVC Baseball has a hard time corralling the Coyotes, 12-1

SBVC (6-7-1; 1-1) scored in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1 and that would be it, as the Ridgecrest Cerro Coso Coyotes (9-4; 1-1) defeated the home side, 12-1.

SBVC freshman right handed starting pitcher Vincent Flores (Rialto H.S.) cleared four innings, surrendering five runs, all earned, on seven hits and walking two. In the end, SBVC would place six different pitchers on the mound.

Freshman left fielder Aaron Gamez (Riverside La Sierra) had a monster day at the plate going 3 for 4 and sophomore short stop Gerardo Torreblanca (Fontana H.S.) hit his 11th extra base hit of the season in the bottom of the first, which makes him the state leader in that category.

In the top of the first, the Coyotes jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but SBVC would equalize in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs, Torreblanca hit his state leading 9th double of the season to left and sophomore second baseman Anthony Aguila (Redlands H.S.) reached on a hit-by-pitch. Sophomore designated hitter Breion Barron (Hemet Tahquitz) brought Torreblanca home on a single to center, tying the game at 1-1.

Cerro Coso would put up two runs in the third, six runs in the fourth and three runs in eighth on the afternoon.
