Spartans Beat Conference Leading San Bernardino Valley

After the official called a penalty and awarded San Bernardino Valley a penalty kick, the Spartans could've felt dejected.  Up to that point, MiraCosta had played the conference leading Wolverines even for 60 minutes. Instead of hanging their heads, the Spartans regrouped after the goal by San Bernardino Valley and answered with a goal of their own to even the score at 1-1.  The equalizing goal was scored by Cooper Higgins in the 74th minute and assisted by Matt Short. MiraCosta wasn't finished with the first goal.  The Spartans continued to put pressure on the visiting team and ten minutes later the created another scoring opportunity.  This time Colin Baehman followed up a missed shot and placed it in the back of the net to take a 2-1 lead.  MiraCosta held on for the important win and proved themselves to be capable of playing with the best in the state.

Per usual Seth Ketterer was stellar in the goal with four crucial saves.  Other standouts for the Spartans were Arturo Rocha, Johnny Verde and Joseph Kicko.

MiraCosta will travel to Palomar College on Friday for their next conference game. Kickoff is at 3pm.
