SBVC Women's Soccer: O'Connell Signs Letter of Intent

SBVC Women's Soccer sophomore goalkeeper Ann-Marie O'Connell has signed her National Letter of Intent with Lincoln Memorial University. O'Connell an Oak Hills High School girls' soccer standout participated in 18 games for SBVC in 2017 making 13 saves while only allowing 5 goals. O'Connell was a key piece of a stellar defense that had 19 shutouts on the season which is a new Valley College women's soccer record.

The Valley College Women's Soccer Team finished the season ranked 12th in the nation by the USC (United Soccer Coaches) ending the year with a 20-2-2 overall record and a 13-0-2 conference record. They were rewarded with a #7 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a reward for their ninth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year honors as well as five first team All-Conference players.

Lincoln Memorial University is in Harrogate, Tennessee. The Railsplitters are coached by 1st year head coach, Sean Fraser. In the 2017 season, the Railsplitters went 7-10 overall and 2-8 in conference play. Lincoln Memorial University is an NCAA Division II institution whom plays in the South Atlantic Conference.
