SBVC Women’s & Men’s Cross Country: Ortega & Hebb named PCAC Athletes of the Week

SBVC Men's Cross Country sophomore Luis Ortega (Fontana Jurupa Hills) and Women's Cross Country sophomore Alyssa Hebb (Redlands East Valley) have been named as the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference's (PCAC) Male & Female Athletes of the Week for the weeks of September 19th.

This is the first such award for Ortega and the first Honorable Mention award for Hebb. In addition, this is the first season of competition in the PCAC for SBVC.

According to the release, issued by PCAC Sports Information Director, Tom Saxe, "Ortega won the men's race at the prestigious Southern California Preview Meet / Brubaker Invitational, running the 4.0-mile course at Irvine Regional Park in Orange in 20:31.58 to defeat a field of 317 runners. He led SBVC to a fourth place team finish in the 32-college event as he defeated runner-up Joshua Silva of team champion Riverside City College, who was timed in 20:38.96, by 7.38 seconds."

And regarding Hebb's honorable mention, Saxe stated, "Hebb was the PCAC's first women's finisher in the Southern California Preview Meet / Brubaker Invitational at Irvine Regional Park in Orange. She ran the 5,000-meter course in 19:22.00 to place ninth in the 244-runner field."
